Responsibilities

Maintaining a prominent level of safety commitment throughout day-to-day LTIIP design functions
Ensuring timely and cost-effective completion of LTIIP designs to facilitate meeting of annual LTIIP construction schedules and in-servicing requirements
Creating an environment of accountability and a sense of urgency for meeting agreed-upon LTIIP design expectations and deadlines with internal and external stakeholders
Overseeing complex engineering analysis and problem solving in relation to the LTIIP design function (including resolution of required permits, easements, and environmental reviews)
Supporting capital portfolio with timely LTIIP design estimates and plans
Engaging design employees and contractors to establish and achieve scheduled milestones and appropriate benchmarking measures for safety, financial performance, and operational excellence
Driving LTIIP design continuous improvement across the business unit and FE PA
Leading efforts that increase LTIIP design productivity and goal accomplishment across business unit
Identifying, troubleshooting, and resolving LTIIP design problems on projects and/or processes before they become significant issues
Ensuring environmental stewardship and compliance with LTIIP designs
Encouraging open, honest, direct, and ongoing conversation across utility operations groups and corporate support groups regarding LTIIP design progress
Supporting the views and policies of the company and providing LTIIP design strategic direction to employees and contractors
Growing a culture of inclusion where diverse input is encouraged
Reinforcing team dedication to social responsibility through community involvement
Supporting the FirstEnergy hazard and damage assessment storm processes, including performing the duties of Situation Unit Leader as needed

Required

Bachelor's degree in engineering or other technical discipline, or Professional Engineer's (PE) License is required
Minimum 7 years' relevant work experience is required. Relevant work experience includes engineering design, reliability, system planning, substation construction and maintenance, distribution construction and maintenance, right of way acquisition, asset management, new business, joint use, etc
Demonstrated leadership experience required
Thorough understanding of electrical utility distribution system design
Working knowledge of Construction and Material Standards and FE Distribution Policies and Procedures
Knowledge of information systems such as Microsoft Office tools, including Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Word
Knowledge of the National Electric Safety Code
Self-motivated and capable of communicating, motivating, and driving the team toward positive change and improvement
Exceptional relationship management, leadership, teamwork, and managerial skills
Superior customer relations skills and strong written/oral communication skills to make clear, accurate and concise written and/or verbal reports
Able to adapt communication skills to all audiences
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and the ability to lead others in achieving goals for the benefit of the business unit and FirstEnergy
Able to make accurate decisions
Demonstrated sound judgment

Preferred

Professional engineering (PE) certification preferred
