The State of Florida's Department of Environmental Protection is seeking a Government Operations Consultant I to support the Onsite Sewage Program. This role involves conducting organizational studies, assisting with permit applications, and managing electronic documentation to enhance operational efficiency.

Government Administration

Responsibilities

Conduct organizational studies and evaluations on office procedures providing technical assistance and developing procedures to assist the Division of Water Resource Management to operate more efficiently and effectively
Serve on the Onsite Sewage Program Intake Team
Perform initial intake for permit applications and process payment
Receive and direct phone calls from public to appropriate staff
Provide assistance to supervisor and staff that includes scanning of documents, archiving of records, file disposition and data entry
Assist with program efforts to convert existing paper files into an electronic format, including archiving in the electronic document management system
Create, organize and maintain electronic files
Perform quality assurance and quality control reviews to ensure accuracy of records and data files
Assist staff and the public in researching and retrieving files and data
Print reports, process refunds and link payments in DEP's Cash Receiving Application (CRA)
Payment verification and transaction updates in the applicable databases
Reconcile FLAIR expenditures
Initiate correction memo as necessary
Perform other related duties as required

Required

Knowledge of the principles and techniques of effective communication
Knowledge of basic management principles and practices
Knowledge of the methods of data collection and analysis
Ability to review and monitor policies and procedures for compliance with applicable requirements
Ability to evaluate and analyze data relating to grants management activities
Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures relating the grants management activities
Ability to develop and organize data into logical format for presentation in reports, proposals and other written documents
Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques
Ability to work independently
Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments
Ability to communicate effectively
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
At least one year of verifiable related experience in administrative assistance or customer service. Post-secondary degrees may be used as an alternative for the required years of experience on a year-for-year basis. A credential evaluation report from an approved agency must be submitted along with all foreign degrees
Valid Driver's License
