The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is looking for a Weights and Measures Inspector to safeguard consumers and businesses from deceptive practices. This role involves inspecting weighing and measuring devices, auditing inspections, and investigating fraud claims to ensure compliance with state laws and regulations.

Responsibilities

Inspecting and performing accuracy tests on weighing and measuring devices utilized in commercial transactions

Examining packages and commodities sold by weight, measure, or count

Auditing the inspections conducted by Certified Examiners of Weights and Measures

Investigating claims of fraud and abuse related to the sale of commodities

Taking enforcement actions such as marking devices as rejected, temporarily or permanently removing them from service, or pursuing legal action through citations and penalties

Verifying the accuracy of PLU and UPC scanning systems

Ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations

Participating in necessary technical training

Engaging with industry representatives and the public

Conducting assessments of biofuel and fuel quality

Qualification

Required

Four years of public contact work, including one year of experience in weights and measures inspections; and graduation from high school

Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the applicant with the requisite knowledge and skills and abilities with weights and measures inspections

This position requires possession of a valid PA Class C non-commercial driver's license

You must be able to perform essential job functions
