The State of Florida is seeking candidates for the position of Investigator I within the Office of the State Attorney for the 20th Judicial Circuit. This role involves providing investigative support to legal staff, reviewing cases and evidence, communicating with detectives and witnesses, and performing various investigative duties as required.

Responsibilities

Work is mainly dayshift Monday through Friday but may involve occasional nights and weekends
This is a sworn law enforcement position subject to on-call status
This position is responsible for investigative support to the legal staff
Duties include reviewing cases and evidence; witness locates; obtaining court documents; meeting and communicating with detectives and witnesses; provide testimony as necessary; attend briefings; provide staff and witness security; investigate violations of Florida Statutes, attend depos and proffers; and perform other varied investigative duties as required
The area of jurisdiction encompasses five counties (Charlotte, Collier, Glades, Hendry and Lee), and the specific office of assignment is TBD

Required

Current Florida Law Enforcement Certification
Five years of sworn criminal investigative experience
Valid Florida Driver's License
Meet the minimum eligibility requirements established in Florida State Statute 943
Be at least 19 years of age
Be a citizen of the United States
Be a high school graduate or its equivalent
Not have been convicted of any felony or of a misdemeanor involving perjury or a false statement
Not have received a dishonorable or undesirable discharge from any of the Armed Forces of the United States
Have processed fingerprints on file with the employing agency
Have passed a physical examination by a licensed physician
Have a good moral character as defined by Administrative Code 11B-27-0011
Possess a current certificate of compliance for basic employment certification issued by the Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission

Preferred

Notable investigative experience in major crimes, public corruption, financial crimes, and organized crime
Prior training and experience as a polygraph examiner
Bilingual verbal & written skills

Benefits

This position is classified as Special Risk retirement, which provides eligible members a greater retirement credit accrual rate and requires fewer years of service to reach full retirement benefits than is required for non-Special Risk members.
