Grant and Development Writer
Homeless Intervention Services of Orange County (HIS-OC) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to ending homelessness. Responsibilities
Develop, design, and refine programs that align with HIS-OC’s mission and community needs
Translate community needs and client data into compelling program proposals and outcomes
Set measurable goals, performance metrics, and evaluation tools for programs and initiatives
Ensure all proposals and programs reflect a cause-centered, equity-driven approach
Research and identify new public and private funding opportunities that align with HIS-OC’s priorities
Write, edit, and submit competitive grant proposals, reports, and renewal applications
Coordinate grant review processes and ensure timely submission of all deliverables
Collaborate with finance staff to develop budgets, forecasts, and financial narratives
Track grant deadlines, outcomes, and compliance requirements to ensure accountability
Draft and design sponsorship packages and donor proposals tailored to funder priorities
Cultivate relationships with foundations, corporations, and community partners
Collaborate with the Executive Director and Development Team to align funding needs with donor interests
Support special events and campaigns through sponsorship writing and creative funding pitches
Work closely with program managers to ensure alignment between service delivery and grant objectives
Partner with finance, operations, and leadership teams to integrate financial accountability and outcome tracking
Assist with internal reporting and board presentations regarding program growth and impact
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Nonprofit Management, Public Administration, Social Work, Communications, or a related field (Master's preferred)
Minimum 3–5 years of experience in nonprofit grant writing, program design, or fund development
Proven success in securing and managing foundation, government, or corporate funding
Strong understanding of nonprofit budgeting, financial reports, and outcome evaluation
Advanced writing and storytelling skills with attention to detail and mission alignment
Highly organized with the ability to multitask, manage competing deadlines, and work collaboratively
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, and grant management software
Demonstrated commitment to HIS-OC's mission of ending homelessness and promoting dignity for all
