Turbocharger Technician

MSHS Pacific Power Group is seeking a skilled and dependable Turbocharger Technician to support repair, maintenance, and troubleshooting of marine and industrial diesel engine systems. This hands-on role includes work in the workshop as well as on-site and on-board assignments, ensuring all service activities meet manufacturer specifications and ISO standards.

Responsibilities

Perform Assembly and Disassembly: Execute precise assembly and disassembly of turbochargers and their components, following manufacturer instructions
Inspect and Diagnose Issues: Identify wear, damage, and mechanical problems to determine necessary repairs
Conduct Maintenance and Repairs: Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, reconditioning, and part replacement to ensure optimal turbocharger performance
Prepare Technical Reports: Document detailed findings on turbocharger conditions and the work performed
Ensure Quality Control: Verify that all work meets quality and safety standards
Provide Customer Support: Offer technical advice and support to customers onsite and remotely
Lead and Mentor Teams: Guide small technician teams when needed, fostering productivity and professional development
Travel Extensively: Be prepared for up to 50% travel, including domestic and occasional international trips, with occasional weekend work

Required

At least 2 years of hands-on experience with turbochargers (ABB, MAN, NAPIER, MET, etc.), marine diesel engines, or similar mechanical systems
Strong understanding of turbocharger systems
Excellent problem-solving abilities
Attention to detail
Ability to write clear and detailed technical reports
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive physical motions
Capability to kneel, stoop, twist, turn, and work in confined or uncomfortable spaces
Comfortable working outdoors and in varying weather conditions

Preferred

Recognized electrical or mechanical certification from an accredited trade school, military training institution, or associate degree in a related field
Experience in engines in the marine, offshore industry, or power plant industry
