Principal Solutions Architect, Data Center Power Systems

Responsibilities

Architect comprehensive power solutions for 50-500MW data center deployments integrating utility feeds, on-site generation (natural gas, solar, wind, SOFC, SMR), BESS, and advanced UPS systems to achieve Tier III/IV reliability
Lead technical design of hybrid behind-the-meter and front-of-the-meter applications including peak shaving, renewable integration, grid services participation, and microgrid operations
Define product strategy and roadmaps for Qcells' data center power portfolio aligned with AI workload growth, sustainability mandates, and grid modernization trends
Oversee power system modeling including load flow analysis, short-circuit calculations, arc-flash studies, harmonic analysis, and transient stability assessments
Design intelligent energy management strategies using AI/ML platforms (LSTM, TFT engines) for dynamic optimization of mixed energy sources and storage dispatch
Drive customer engagement as primary technical partner, conducting C-suite workshops, solution demonstrations, and strategic account planning with hyperscalers and colocation providers
Author industry whitepapers, deliver conference keynotes, and establish Qcells as the thought leader in AI-optimized data center power architecture
Partner with Sales leadership to develop GTM strategies, value propositions, and technical win themes for major pursuits
Lead cross-functional teams spanning power engineering, controls, software, and field services to deliver integrated solutions
Establish strategic partnerships with equipment vendors (Eaton, Schneider, Delta), renewable developers, and utility companies

Required

PhD or MS in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or related field, or BS with 15+ years equivalent experience
15+ years in power systems design with 10+ years focused on data center or critical infrastructure
Proven track record designing and deploying 100MW+ data center power architectures including medium-voltage distribution, UPS systems, and backup generation
Deep expertise in renewable integration, BESS deployment, and microgrid controls for mission-critical facilities
Experience with power system modeling tools (ETAP, SKM, PSCAD) and grid interconnection studies
Demonstrated success in customer-facing solution architecture, pre-sales engineering, or technical business development roles
Strong understanding of utility tariffs, ISO/RTO market structures, and demand response programs
Knowledge of relevant codes and standards (NEC, NFPA 70E, IEEE 1547/2030, UL 9540/1741)
Excellent communication skills with ability to present to executive audiences and author technical content
Travel required up to 20% for customer engagement, conferences, and site visits

Preferred

Solar Industry experience (Renewable)
Experience with AI/ML platforms for energy optimization (RNN, CNN, LSTM, TFT architectures)
Track record of P&L management or business unit leadership in power/energy sectors
Familiarity with OPC-UA, SCADA/EMS integration, and industrial communication protocols
Experience with hyperscale customers (Meta, Microsoft, Google, AWS) and their infrastructure requirements
Knowledge of emerging technologies including hydrogen fuel cells, SMRs, and long-duration energy storage
Patents, publications, or standards committee participation in power systems or energy management
Experience with power purchase agreements (PPAs), renewable energy certificates (RECs), and carbon markets
Understanding of data center cooling systems and their interaction with power infrastructure
Active professional engineering (PE) license
