The Immigration Staff Attorney will handle various immigration cases, provide direct representation to clients, and engage in community education and outreach efforts.

Responsibilities

The Immigration Law Unit handles a variety of immigration cases, including deportation defense, family-based and humanitarian-based immigration benefits, T and U Visas, VAWA applications, and asylum matters
In addition to providing direct representation to clients before the Immigration Court and USCIS, the position requires preparing and delivering community education; conducting outreach; active bar participation; and special legal and community projects

Required

A demonstrable awareness and sensitivity to the needs of the populations we serve
Ability to work effectively with a large caseload and function professionally within a highly stressful environment
Strong organizational and time management skills
Ability to work independently at times and also as an effective part of a team, including other attorneys, support staff, volunteers, and community partners
Excellent written and communication skills
Ability to work constructively with others
Member in good standing of the Florida Bar Association

Preferred

1 - 3 years of experience in Immigration law preferred
Experience serving low-income individuals, victims of crime, veterans, or other marginalized communities preferred
The ability to speak more than one language is a plus
