Responsibilities
Prepare accurate and competitive electrical cost estimates across a range of commercial, industrial, and mission-critical projects by analysing drawings, specifications, schedules, and contract requirements to ensure full scope coverage and pricing accuracy
Lead detailed quantity take-offs for electrical systems including power distribution, lighting, low-voltage, controls, and medium-voltage infrastructure, ensuring labour, material, equipment, and subcontractor costs are clearly defined and risk-adjusted
Evaluate project risks, opportunities, and value-engineering options, working closely with project management and engineering teams to optimise cost efficiency, constructability, and overall bid competitiveness
Solicit, review, and negotiate supplier and subcontractor quotations, validating compliance with project specifications and leveraging market knowledge to secure best-value pricing and commercial terms
Collaborate with clients, consultants, and internal stakeholders during pre-construction to clarify technical requirements, respond to RFIs, and support design-assist or design-build estimating efforts
Maintain estimating databases, historical cost data, and pricing models, contributing to continuous improvement of estimating accuracy, benchmarking, and forecasting for future bids
Qualification
Required
Minimum 5+ years of dedicated electrical estimating experience, with a proven ability to lead estimates on complex projects from pre-construction through final submission
Demonstrated experience estimating large-scale, ground-up projects valued at $100M+, with exposure to high-value electrical scopes and mission-critical or complex construction environments
Background working for an electrical contractor or general contractor, with a strong understanding of contractor-side estimating processes (candidates with owner's representative–only experience will not be considered)
Proven employment stability, reflecting long-term commitment and consistency within previous roles
Willingness and ability to work full-time on site, as this position requires a hands-on, on-site presence throughout the estimating and pre-construction phases (remote or hybrid working is not available)
