Senior Accountant

Responsibilities
Act as the go-to expert for Sage Intacct, managing general ledger, dimensions, and integrations
Configure and optimize ADP Payroll for union and non-union staff
Facilitate seamless data integration and reconciliation between ADP and Sage Intacct
Lead system upgrades, testing, and enhancements to boost efficiency
Uphold data accuracy, consistency, and regulatory compliance
Oversee full-cycle payroll processing via ADP for diverse employee groups
Ensure adherence to collective bargaining agreements (CBAs), covering wages, step increases, differentials, overtime, shift premiums, union dues, and multi-employer plans
Manage non-union payroll elements like bonuses, stipends, retroactive pay, and adjustments
Scrutinize payroll registers before final processing
Validate payroll journal entries, accruals in Sage Intacct, and general ledger reconciliations—resolving any variances
Track and reconcile benefits including health insurance, retirement plans, FSAs, and union contributions
Align benefits invoices with payroll deductions and employer matches
Partner with HR and providers for precise deductions and payments
Accurately record benefits expenses and liabilities in Sage Intacct
Assist with benefits audits, census data, and compliance reporting
Conduct monthly bank and general ledger reconciliations
Draft and review intricate journal entries, accruals, and allocations
Contribute to monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial closes
Code transactions accurately by department and program
Strengthen internal controls and refine accounting procedures
Manage the full A/R cycle, from coding and approvals to timely collections
Handle payments, deposits, and aging analyses
Guarantee precise, consistent recording of revenue and expenses
Generate insightful financial and payroll reports for leadership
Build sophisticated Excel tools using pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and advanced formulas
Aid in budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
Liaise during financial, payroll, and benefits audits
Maintain compliance with GAAP, nonprofit standards, labor laws, and benefits regulations
Foster strong partnerships with HR, program leads, and external stakeholders
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
4+ years of progressive accounting experience (nonprofit preferred)
Deep expertise in Sage Intacct for reporting and reconciliations
Advanced proficiency in ADP Payroll, including setup, processing, and analytics
Proven track record with union and non-union payrolls
Solid grasp of payroll-linked benefits and deductions
Expert-level Microsoft Excel skills
Preferred
Nonprofit accounting experience, including grants and restricted funds
Knowledge of collective bargaining agreements
