Consumer Bankruptcy Attorney
John Goetz Law is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Consumer Bankruptcy Attorney to join their practice. This role involves managing Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 cases, providing strategic legal counsel and empathetic support to clients throughout the bankruptcy process.
Law Practice
Responsibilities
Conduct initial consultations to evaluate financial situations and recommend appropriate bankruptcy options
Prepare and file bankruptcy petitions, schedules, and related court documents
Represent clients at 341 Meetings of Creditors and before the U.S. Bankruptcy Court
Communicate regularly with clients to provide updates and guidance on their cases
Negotiate with creditors and trustees to protect client interests
Qualification
Required
Must be an active member in good standing with the Virginia State Bar
Exceptional communication skills
Attention to detail
Ability to manage a high-volume caseload with empathy
Preferred
Previous experience in consumer bankruptcy is preferred, but we are willing to train candidates who demonstrate a strong passion for this practice area
Admission to the United States District Court for the Eastern or Western District of Virginia is highly preferable; candidates willing to obtain admission immediately upon hire will also be considered
