Executive Director
The Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA) Western Pacific Region is seeking a regional Executive Director (ED) to serve as the chief staff leader. The ED will be responsible for implementing the organization’s mission and strategic vision, ensuring operational success, and strengthening the organization’s presence across the region.

Responsibilities
Strategic planning: Contribute to and implement the organization’s long-term strategy
Operational oversight: Manage day-to-day operations, staffing, and administrative functions
Staff leadership: Supervise and mentor staff, fostering a productive work environment
Develop and implement policies, procedures, and organizational best practices
Maintain effective communication with the Board, providing timely updates on operations, strategy, and performance
Fundraising leadership: Lead fundraising efforts, including developing campaigns and coordinating events
Financial oversight: Ensure financial health through budgeting, reporting, and compliance with regulations and Board policies
Collaboration with Board leadership: Work closely with the Board Executive Committee of elected officers to fulfill the organization’s mission and provide regular updates on operations, strategy and staff
Collaboration with Board: Assist Board directors with implementation of the strategic vision and mission
Assistant Secretary to the Board: Act as a resource to the Secretary of the Board, responsible for well-maintained and organized organization documentation, and assist with Board agendas, meeting materials, minutes, and follow up action items
Stakeholder relationships: Build and maintain relationships with members, partners, vendors, and other related member organizations
Advocacy: Represent the organization at local, state, and national levels, promoting its mission and initiatives
Events and chapter support: Support individual WPR-approved events hosted by WPR and its individual chapters throughout the region (California, Arizona, Nevada and Hawaii) as directed by the Board
Equality: Manage staff and the region’s calendar to not prioritize one event (or one Chapter) over another, without Board leadership approval
Recommend staffing levels (in person vs. remote) based on event needs and budget
Ensure all events and operations comply with existing state laws where WPR operates
Qualification
Required
Education: Associate's degree required; Bachelor's degree preferred; MBA a plus
Experience: Minimum 5 years of senior management experience in the nonprofit, association, or related field OR 10 years of comparable experience in event or project management
Experience working with a Board of Directors or governance body
Familiarity with the AEC (architecture, engineering, and construction) industry
Skills: Strong skills in leadership, communication (written and verbal), relationship management, public speaking, marketing and strategic planning abilities are essential
Ethical decision‑making and commitment to organizational transparency
Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with Adobe products; and experience with Cvent is a plus
DBIA or Associate DBIA credential desired OR ability to obtain Associate DBIA designation within 12 months of hire; WPR‑funded
The ED must reside within California within 30 miles from one of the following metro areas: Los Angeles, Santa Ana, San Diego, San Francisco, San Jose, or Sacramento
