Assistant Technical Officer

They are seeking an Assistant Technical Officer to support the Medical Engineering Department with the management and maintenance of medical devices, ensuring their safe and compliant use across various sites.

Responsibilities
Management of stock
Commissioning of new devices
Disposal of redundant equipment
Collection/Return of devices to wards and departments
Creating and updating of tasks in the Trust Asset Management System
The maintenance of a range of basic medical electronic devices including electrical safety testing, routine service/calibration and minor device repair
Qualification
Required
NVQ3 or equivalent qualification / experience
Current full UK driving license
An appreciation of electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and electromechanical applications
Knowledge of Health and Safety Legislation
Experience in a similar/relevant maintenance environment
Previous experience of working in a maintenance environment, working with tools and equipment
Ability to work unsupervised with tools and equipment
Good interpersonal skills, in person and by telephone
Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with staff and suppliers under all conditions of urgency
Basic fault-finding skills
Good analytical skills
Computer use including database, word processing, internet and email
Good levels of manual dexterity
Preferred
NVQ Level 3 in a related Engineering discipline
Recognised IT competency qualification (e.g., ECDL)
Relevant experience within a maintenance environment
Experience of PAT testing
Experience of working in an ISO9001 environment
Experience of working in a Healthcare environment
Report writing skills
Knowledge of Medical Devices
Knowledge of Audio-Visual Equipment
An understanding of the operation and calibration of diagnostic test equipment
