The North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission (NCWRC) is seeking a Maintenance/Construction Technician II (Boating Technician) for their Engineering/Construction Division. This role involves the construction and maintenance of boating access areas and other facilities across the state, operating various equipment and documenting project progress.

Responsibilities
Involved in the construction and maintenance of the Wildlife Resources Commission's boating access areas and other facilities across the state
Operates a variety of equipment, including farm tractors, dozers, excavators, loaders, graders, dump trucks, hauling units, hand tools and power tools used in the construction and maintenance of recreational access facilities
Responsible for routine office work necessary to document the construction and progress of projects
Involved in the construction, maintenance and repair of fish hatchery equipment and buildings
Qualification
Required
Experience with construction techniques and practices
Experience with operation, maintenance and repair of structures, equipment and machinery
Knowledge of preventative maintenance requirements of equipment
Experience operating heavy equipment, outboard motors, chainsaws, power winches and other power tools
Experience in carpentry and concrete work
Possession of a valid North Carolina driver's license is required within 90 days of employment
Possession of a North Carolina Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is required within 12 months of employment
Ability to work primarily outdoors, in all kinds of weather conditions
Ability to perform manual labor, lifting medium to heavy items weighing up to 50 pounds daily
Ability to perform heavy physical tasks for extended periods of time
Ability to wear safety equipment and follow established safety regulations and procedures
High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and one (1) year of progressive experience in the assigned trade areas; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
May require current certification by the Environmental Protection Agency as a Type I, II, III or Universal technician as required by Title 40, Code of Federal Regulations Part 82, Subpart F
Pre-employment drug / alcohol testing is required
Completion of release form and background statement allowing NCWRC to check with previous employees for the past two years about controlled substances and alcohol testing (if applicable)
