Virtual Desktop Infrastructure Engineer

They are seeking a Virtual Desktop Infrastructure Engineer to deploy, engineer, configure, and maintain VMware-based Virtual Desktop Infrastructure supporting RRMC operations, while collaborating with various teams to ensure compliance with security requirements.

Responsibilities
Deploy, engineer, configure, and maintain VMware-based Virtual Desktop Infrastructure supporting RRMC operations
Support VDI environments serving 500+ desktop and VPN users across multiple networks
Perform planning, testing, coordination, scheduling, and execution of VDI deployments and upgrades
Maintain, optimize, and troubleshoot VDI systems to ensure performance, availability, and security
Collaborate with system administrators, network engineers, and cybersecurity teams to ensure compliance with security requirements and best practices
Participate in and lead components of major system installations, upgrades, and lifecycle refresh efforts
Interface with vendors to troubleshoot outages, performance degradation, and technical issues
Respond to escalated technical incidents and change requests via Remedy ticketing system
Develop, document, and maintain Techniques, Tactics, and Procedures (TTPs) and Disaster Recovery plans
Develop and maintain a VDI knowledge base and documentation repository (SharePoint)
Provide guidance, training, and technical support to Tier 2 Desktop Support, Help Desk staff, and end users
Participate in special projects and continuous improvement initiatives as required
Qualification
Required
U.S. Citizenship (Non-negotiable)
Active TS/SCI Clearance (Required at time of application)
Candidate must be local to the Frederick / Baltimore, MD region and able to support work at the Raven Rock Mountain Complex (RRMC)
Upon position acceptance, candidate must be able to come into the IvoryCloud office to complete onboarding paperwork, verify identification, and pick up equipment
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related technical field
5+ years of hands-on Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) implementation and administration experience
Demonstrated experience designing, deploying, and supporting enterprise-scale VDI environments (500+ users)
Experience supporting VMware-based virtualization environments in secure or federal environments
Experience working with multiple network enclaves and VPN-supported desktop infrastructures
Advanced expertise with VMware Horizon (8.x) and VMware vSphere environments
Strong understanding of Windows desktop operating systems, user profile management, and application delivery in virtualized environments
Solid knowledge of networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, load balancing, and VPNs as they relate to VDI
Experience managing VDI image lifecycle, patching, updates, and performance optimization
Strong troubleshooting skills, including log analysis and root-cause identification
Experience documenting configurations, system changes, and standard operating procedures
Familiarity with cybersecurity policies, IA requirements, and secure configuration practices for virtual environments
Strong communication skills with the ability to convey technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across multidisciplinary teams
VMware Horizon 8.x Professional (Required)
VMware Certified Professional – Desktop Management (2023) (Required)
Preferred
Experience supporting classified or DoD environments is strongly preferred
