Responsibilities
Lead and mentor a team of municipal attorneys and support staff
Provide expert guidance on complex legal issues affecting Maine municipalities
Review statutes, ordinances, bylaws, and case law to support member inquiries
Oversee drafting of legal documents, legislative reviews, and advisory opinions
Represent MMA before legislative committees and state agencies as needed
Develop training programs and legal resources for municipal officials
Contribute to organizational leadership as part of MMA’s Senior Management Team
Qualification
Required
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school
10+ years of progressively responsible legal experience
Active membership in the Maine Bar in good standing
Strong background in municipal or public law; litigation experience preferred
Exceptional communication, research, and analytical skills
Demonstrated leadership experience managing legal professionals
