Responsibilities
Design, build, and optimize distributed data platforms using Starburst (Trino/Presto)
Enable federated query access across data lakes, data warehouses, and operational data sources
Develop and maintain high-performance SQL queries for analytics and AI/ML workloads
Collaborate with Data Scientists and AI Engineers to support feature engineering, model training, and inference pipelines
Implement data governance, security, and access controls within Starburst
Optimize query performance, cost, and scalability in cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
Integrate Starburst with modern data stacks (Snowflake, Delta Lake, Iceberg, Hive, Kafka, etc.)
Support real-time and batch data processing pipelines
Troubleshoot production issues and improve system reliability
Qualification
Required
Hands-on experience with Starburst Enterprise or Starburst Galaxy
Strong knowledge of Trino / Presto SQL internals and query optimization
5+ years of experience in Data Engineering, Analytics Engineering, or AI/Data Platform roles
Solid understanding of data lakes, data warehouses, and federated query engines
Experience working with AI/ML teams and data science workflows
Proficiency in SQL, and at least one programming language (Python, Java, or Scala)
Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
Strong understanding of data modeling, partitioning, and performance tuning
