Power Plant Controls Engineer - Generation Development & Construction
Evergy is committed to leading the Responsible Portfolio Transition. They are seeking a technically strong and collaborative Controls Engineer to support the development, construction, and commissioning of conventional generation projects.

Responsibilities
Provide technical oversight to enforce contract requirements on EPC Contractors and Major Equipment Suppliers
Coordinate with OE, EPC, Power Island Suppliers, and internal teams to ensure project success
Promote safety and contribute to a positive team culture
Support multi-disciplinary, multi-year capital projects with high complexity and value
Evaluate control system architecture, logic diagrams, instrument lists, and I/O schedules
Review and develop specifications for major I&C equipment including DCS, PLCs, sensors, transmitters, analyzers, and control valves
Ensure proper integration of GT, ST, HRSG, and balance-of-plant (BOP) control systems
Participate in vendor evaluations and ensure technical compliance for control systems
Witness FATs for DCS, PLC panels, and critical instrumentation
Monitor delivery schedules and inspect installation of instruments, control panels, and wiring
Onsite lead for all controls engineering RFIs and oversight
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited school
At least 4 years of engineering experience in the design, construction and/or maintenance of power plant control systems
Willingness to work nights and weekends as needed
Knowledge of GE Mark VIe, Mitsubishi, Emerson Ovation and/or Siemens T3000 control systems
Troubleshooting of operating issues with plant control systems
High initiative and strong interpersonal skills
Good computer skills
Valid driver's license
Satisfactory work record including good attendance
