Civil Engineer Senior
The Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District provides comprehensive wastewater and storm water management services to residents and businesses in both St. Louis City and County. They are seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to perform complex engineering work, manage the Sewer Separation Program, and provide technical support to Operations staff while investigating sewer-related issues.

Responsibilities
Provide a high level of technical expertise and leadership investigating customer complaints; investigate sewer separation requests, storm water problems, erosions, flooding, and other related issues
Provide information to the public or governmental officials regarding the collection systems
Manage the Sewer Separation Program and initiate work orders for installation of devices to alleviate sewer backups in buildings
Provide CCTV review and coding for quality assurance of in-house CCTV inspections
Investigates complex sewer problems dealing with such issues as backups and overflows and make recommendations for maintenance and rehabilitation corrections
Provide technical engineering support to Operations staff members
Attend watershed meetings and coordinate communications between other divisions within MSD
May oversee engineering team on projects; in absence of supervisor, may oversee subordinates; may perform related work as required or as delegated by supervisors
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in engineering
A minimum of four years' experience as a licensed Professional Engineer
Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Missouri, or ability to obtain the Missouri Professional Engineering License within 6 months of hire
Must possess a valid driver's license issued by the state in which the employee resides
Extensive knowledge of principles and practices of civil engineering
Comprehensive knowledge of District regulations and procedures applicable to sewer construction
Problem-solving and communication skills necessary to work effectively with contractors, engineers, and MSD staff to ensure the successful completion of these projects
Considerable knowledge of spreadsheet, word processing and design software
Basic knowledge in accounting
Extensive skill in reading and interpreting complex engineering plans and specifications
Exceptional skill in maintaining records and preparing technical reports
Thorough skill in analyzing and integrating data
Considerable skill in communicating effectively both in oral and written form
Exceptional ability in forming and maintaining effective working relationships
Must pass a Non-D.O.T. Drug Test for this position
Employees must have a proficient or higher overall rating on last review
