Weld Engineer
Martinrea International Inc. is seeking a Weld Engineer to establish welding processes and quality parameters for all welding operations. The role involves maintaining quality standards, assisting in metallurgical studies, and improving welding processes while ensuring compliance with company policies.

Responsibilities
Establish welding process and quality parameters for all welding operations
Assist in maintaining proper methods and standards for quality and production from all welders
Establish procedures, processes, and testing equipment for destructive and non-destructive testing
Assist in metallurgical studies that must be performed
Research and recommend new ideas and methods to improve welding processes/procedures
Study current welding processes for cost reduction and process improvement opportunities, and prepare proposals (including cost justification)
Establish equipment standards required for the welding department
Participate in the concept and design process of all weld fixtures and participate in FMEAs
Provide assistance, as required, for approved weld training programs
Maintain a preventative maintenance program on all welding and robotic systems
Develop and recommend welding systems, weld fixtures, robotics, and consumables
Responsible for welding dimensional process capability for new and existing processes
Identify and implement fail-safe welding systems to eliminate discrepant processes and parts
Participate in new program management activities
Any other duties or responsibilities assigned by the Engineering Manager
Abide by all Company polices including, but not limited to the following: Health and Safety, Quality and Environmental Systems, Human Resources policies, and the Martinrea Employee Handbook
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university and minimum of three years related experience/training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook), CAD (both 2D and 3D) software, and weld measuring software (Axio Cam)
Must have ultrasonic and non-destructive testing experience
Must have a high level of proficiency with the English language
Must have a strong knowledge of robotics
Must be willing and able to travel
Must be able to give instruction, multi-task, self-motivate, and work under pressure
Must have technical problem solving skills (specifically mechanical and electrical inclination)
Excellent decision making, time management, communication, organization, and leadership skills
Knowledge of Customer Specific Requirements
Knowledge of ISO 9001/IATF 16949
