Responsibilities
Act as primary liaison between onshore leadership and offshore accounting team
Monitor workload allocation, deliverable metrics, to drive timeliness and accountability of offshore accounting team
Provide guidance and training as required to offshore staff and ensure quality control across their deliverables
Review financials and ad hoc reporting request prepared by offshore and onshore accounting team and ensure timely delivery to the investors, 3rd party owners, lenders, and other management teams
Review and approve detailed transactional entries and reconciliations in connection with month end closing procedures of offshore accounting team
Ensures all expenses, receipts, owner's distributions, funding requests and other transactions for the accounting period are accurately posted
Reviews quarterly and year end reporting for debt covenants, if necessary
Responds promptly to requests from management teams and clients/JV partners regarding various accounting issues and reports
Ensures timely payments of property taxes, debt obligations, etc
Assists property managers with the preparation of annual operating budgets and reconciliations
Collaborate with intercompany and offshore teams on asset acquisitions, dispositions, loan closings, etc
Coordinates and assists with annual audits and tax return preparation
Coordinates, assists and reviews accounting for transactions such as acquisitions, dispositions, and loan closings
Assists with the compliance of Partnership agreements
Assists with special projects and other related duties as may be assigned
Collaborate with both internal and external business partners in research of technical accounting and tax guidance
Oversee accounting policies, procedures and internal controls. Identify opportunities for process improvement, design and implement changes for the accounting department and offshore accounting team
Qualification
Required
BBA in Accounting, CPA a plus
Minimum 1-2 years' experience as an accounting manager, 3-5 years of experience in real estate
Highly proficient with Excel and accounting software – Yardi, MRI and Juniper Square highly beneficial
Strong understanding of GAAP accounting and partnerships
Ability to analyze, investigate and resolve issues while maintaining accuracy, timeliness, and data integrity
Ability to collaborate, to work independently and meet deadlines
Self-motivated with the ability to multi-task
