Chief Financial Officer
The Township of Montclair operates a significant budget and is seeking a Chief Financial Officer to oversee all financial matters within the Township. This role involves managing operating and capital budgets, revenue collection, payroll processing, and leading a team responsible for financial functions.
Government Administration
Responsibilities
Knowledge of New Jersey municipal accounting principles
Expertise with financial software used for Finance, Tax and Payroll, such as MSI, Edmunds and Primepoint
Computer and technical use proficiency, including but not limited to Microsoft 365 applications, virtual meeting applications
Strong written communication skills with ability to write professional letters, emails, reports or documents
Maintain consistent interactions and relationships with all Township, County and/or State departments
Ability to manage time effectively, resolve conflicts professionally, and set & meet goals & objectives
Ability to manage a team, ensure smooth department operation, provide assignments & instructions to staff, and evaluate their performance
Experience with creating presentations and presenting in public forum
Qualification
Required
Graduation from an accredited college with a bachelor's degree in accounting, budgeting, finance, economics, or public or business administration
Five (5) years of supervisory experience in functional areas of financial management such as accounting, budgeting, auditing, or financial or fiscal analysis in Municipal Government
Possession of a current, valid certification as a Certified Municipal Finance Officer (CMFO) issued by the NJ Department of Community Affairs, Division of Local Government Services
Will require off hours availability to work nights and weekends as situations warrant
