Thermal Management Engineer

Responsibilities

Develop and implement thermal management strategies for high-power components such as batteries, inverters, electric motors, and power electronics
Perform thermal simulations using tools like ANSYS, GT-SUITE, and STAR-CCM+ to evaluate cooling and heating system performance under various operating conditions (high-speed driving, rapid acceleration, fast charging, and extreme environments)
Collaborate closely with powertrain, electrical, and controls teams to integrate thermal solutions into overall vehicle design while ensuring system compatibility and efficiency
Analyze heat transfer and cooling requirements, evaluating the effectiveness of radiators, heat exchangers, HVAC systems, and liquid/air cooling architectures for EV and hybrid applications
Optimize battery thermal management systems to improve performance consistency, extend battery life, and enhance vehicle range
Correlate virtual simulation results with physical test data, conducting validation tests under varying loads and environmental conditions and refining models for accuracy
Sign off on virtual performance based on validated simulation models
Document thermal analyses and prepare detailed technical reports with design recommendations to improve cooling efficiency and component reliability
Research and implement advanced thermal technologies, including liquid cooling systems, phase change materials, and thermal insulation solutions

Required

B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering
Strong expertise in thermal analysis and heat transfer principles
Proficiency in ANSYS, GT-SUITE, and STAR-CCM+
Experience correlating simulation models with physical test results
Knowledge of EV and hybrid vehicle thermal systems, including battery thermal management
Ability to work in cross-functional engineering teams
Strong documentation and technical reporting skills

Preferred

MS in Mechanical Engineering
