Responsibilities

Partner with product, design, and business stakeholders to understand associate needs, regulatory constraints, and business goals, translating them into scalable front-end solutions
Lead the design and implementation of front-end architectures using React Native and React.js, ensuring high performance, accessibility, and maintainability
Define and document UI frameworks, patterns, and standards that support consistency across global Time & Attendance experiences
Build and evaluate proofs of concept (POCs) to validate new technologies, patterns, and user experience approaches
Create and present architectural designs, prototypes, and technical roadmaps to engineering teams and senior stakeholders
Provide technical leadership and mentorship, setting a high bar for code quality, testing, performance, and operational excellence
Collaborate closely with backend, platform, and infrastructure teams to ensure seamless integration, scalability, security, and reliability
Identify technical risks early, anticipate challenges related to scale, localization, and compliance, and propose mitigation strategies
Stay current with emerging front-end technologies, frameworks, and best practices, evaluating their applicability to People Tech and associate-facing systems

Required

Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 6 years' experience in software engineering or related area
8 years' experience in software engineering or related area
Demonstrated experience as a Distinguished Engineer, Principal Engineer, or equivalent, with a strong emphasis on front-end architecture and development
Deep expertise in React Native and React.js, including performance optimization, state management, and component architecture
Proven experience building large-scale, consumer- or associate-facing applications used by diverse, global audiences
Strong understanding of front-end architectural patterns, accessibility standards, and responsive design principles
Experience collaborating in distributed systems environments and integrating front-end applications with APIs and event-driven backends
Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex business and regulatory requirements into intuitive user experiences
Exceptional communication skills, capable of influencing both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Strong leadership and collaboration skills, with experience guiding teams without formal authority
Experience working in Agile development environments

Preferred

Master's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 4 years' experience in software engineering or related area
Background in creating inclusive digital experiences, demonstrating knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly
Knowledge of accessibility best practices and Walmart's accessibility standards and guidelines for supporting an inclusive culture
