Resident Product Application Engineer

TREMEC is seeking a highly motivated Resident Product Application Engineer (PAE) to support business growth in dual-clutch and manual transmission programs. This role serves as a key technical liaison between TREMEC and its customers, providing on-site support at customer facilities and at TREMEC’s Wixom, Michigan location. The PAE will work closely with various teams to ensure successful program launches and provide ongoing production support.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with program management and functional teams to achieve project objectives for cost, timing, and quality
Communicate effectively with internal teams and customers regarding technical status, timing, and open issues
Diagnose and resolve vehicle-level issues involving hardware, software, and system integration
Manage vehicle fleet tasks, including flashing transmission controllers, tracking software versions, calibration status, end-of-line data matching, and process statistics
Support troubleshooting and issue resolution on customer powertrain test stands, dynamometers, and prototype vehicles
Coordinate, plan, and oversee technical activities while providing hands-on support in operations and engineering lab environments
Lead technical issue resolution efforts, documenting processes, actions, and results, and presenting findings internally and to customers
Manage implementation of engineering changes and deviations both internally and externally

Required

Bachelor of Science in Engineering required
3–5 years of automotive engineering experience, or equivalent academic/project‑based experience
Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems
Hands‑on experience with automotive tools, diagnostics, and shop processes
Excellent problem‑solving abilities and a critical, analytical mindset
Strong customer‑focused communication skills
Proficiency in MS Office
Practical understanding of electronics fundamentals and application in automotive powertrains
Working knowledge of GD&T, CAD, DVP&R, APQP, and manufacturing processes
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in cross‑functional environments
50–75% on‑site support at customer locations in Southeast Michigan, primarily Dearborn
Remaining time spent at TREMEC's Wixom, MI facility or working remotely
Occasional travel (up to 10%) to TREMEC facilities in Querétaro, Mexico; Zedelgem, Belgium; and a customer site in Ontario, Canada
Ability to work occasional non‑traditional hours to support global time zones and time‑critical issues

Preferred

Mechanical, Electrical, or Electromechanics preferred
Familiarity with embedded systems (hardware and software) is beneficial
Knowledge of Ford processes and requirements is a plus
