Field Technician
TGS International Group is looking for a Field Technician to ensure reliable connectivity for clients by delivering telecoms infrastructure and services. The role involves deploying and maintaining fibre and cable networks, responding to maintenance calls, and supporting high-performance telecom networks.
Responsibilities
Deploy and maintain fibre and cable networks, including pulling, dressing, labelling, and securing cables
Terminate fibre cables using fusion splicing, including ribbon splicing techniques
Install metalwork, basket work, and perform basic rack-and-stack services
Conduct fault diagnosis using OTDR, Ethernet, and OSA testing procedures
Terminate copper cables, including Cat “x” and E1 terminations
Ensure continuity, testing, and measurement of cable and fibre runs
Provide electrical connectivity up to 240v AC and 48v DC to distribution panels (without powering until certified)
Provide first-line maintenance support to the customer base, including responding to Out-of-Hours (OOH) on-call duties
Perform installation and commissioning tasks in both project and maintenance environments
Complete and submit all documentation and paperwork within agreed SLA
Maintain Health & Safety and Engineering Quality standards at all times
Comply with company and local procedures, standards, and protocols, focusing on engineering KPIs
Demonstrate flexibility to meet business requirements and carry out ad hoc duties as needed
Take on any additional tasks within the remit of the Field Technician role as required by management
Qualification
Required
Experience in deploying and maintaining fibre and cable networks, including pulling, dressing, labelling, and securing cables
Ability to terminate fibre cables using fusion splicing, including ribbon splicing techniques
Experience in installing metalwork, basket work, and performing basic rack-and-stack services
Proficiency in conducting fault diagnosis using OTDR, Ethernet, and OSA testing procedures
Ability to terminate copper cables, including Cat 'x' and E1 terminations
Experience in ensuring continuity, testing, and measurement of cable and fibre runs
