Responsibilities

Investigate and Resolve Issues: Diagnose integration and installation problems, identify root causes, recommend corrective actions, and document outcomes with guidance from senior team members
Enhance Processes and Tools: Apply and support improvements in processes such as Installation Quality Assurance and OEM integration, leveraging tools like Advisor, COLS, and GCE for high-quality decision-making
Collaborate with Experts: Obtain input and negotiate with Subject Matter Experts and VPI Teams to deliver accurate product data and installation requirements to Application Engineers and OEMs
Drive Product Decisions: Make informed decisions on product selection, design, and integration that influence OEM machine performance, optimization, and quality
Build Customer Relationships: Develop strong technical partnerships with customer counterparts, serving as the primary liaison for technical information, specification management, and issue resolution
Translate Customer Needs: Convert customer requirements and feedback into functional product specifications, ensuring alignment with market expectations and system requirements
Advocate for Customers: Represent customer and market interests during new product development, design reviews, and product change processes to ensure optimal solutions
Ensure Installation Quality: Validate prototype machine performance and confirm installations meet Cummins standards, while independently executing established processes and contributing to continuous improvement
Machine Integration and Optimization: Combine components and subsystems into a cohesive system that meets customer expectations; apply Cummins installation standards and best practices to ensure optimal performance, reliability, cost efficiency, and quality; analyze technical issues using proven troubleshooting methods for timely resolution
Product Application Support: Deliver accurate and complete technical content to support customers and business needs; define installation requirements and develop innovative tools leveraging deep cross-system knowledge and industry expertise for successful design and integration
Technical Customer Management: Serve as the primary technical interface for customers; provide engineering data, documentation, and training to support equipment design and integration; manage product changes effectively to prevent business interruptions through structured communication and change processes
Product Problem Solving: Apply structured problem-solving techniques to identify root causes, implement robust data-driven solutions, and recommend systemic actions to prevent recurrence, ensuring customer satisfaction and product reliability
Communicates Effectively: Develop and deliver clear, multi-mode communications tailored to diverse audiences, ensuring understanding and alignment across stakeholders

Qualification

Required

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred, open to Electrical Engineering programs
Understanding of vehicle systems and testing methodologies
Experience or strong interest in control system calibration and validation
Proficient in data analysis and interpretation (e.g., Matlab)
Familiar with vehicle-level data acquisition tools and techniques (e.g., CANalyzer)
Strong diagnostic skills and structured problem-solving (e.g., 7-step process)
Basic project management capabilities, including schedule tracking
Experience working with suppliers and customers in technical discussions

Preferred

Post-graduate (Master's) degree relevant to this discipline area may be required for select roles
Relevant experience working in either a temporary student employment environment (intern, co-op, or other extracurricular team activities) or as an early career professional in a relevant technical discipline area
Knowledge of MS Office tools is also preferred
