Responsibilities
Supports the Project Field Engineer and the Lead Field Welding engineer in implementing the site welding program on small projects Implements and maintains Bechtel Field Welding program for all welding operations
Provides technical assistance to field supervision and craft
Provides support to ensure construction meets all code, specifications, and Bechtel procedures
Provies technical knowledge for ASME, API, and AWS or other code designed and fabricated items
May coordinate rod room and rod room attendant to ensure all weld filler materials are controlled and meet Bechtel and Code requirements
Assists in the management of the NDE subcontract, including scheduling and coordination between construction and subcontractor
Coordinates with NDE subcontractor, supervision, and safety to ensure welds are accessible for NDE examination
Works with craft to maintain welding documentation and ensure the credibility/accountability of the Welding Program
Supports the field inspections of welding work to ensure workmanship and materials are in conformance with project requirements
Implements the project quality program for welding
Responsible for maintaining NDE backlog for VT, PT, MT, and RT
Implements weld inspection tracking system using TEAMWorks/WITS applications
May be responsible for the implementation and coordination of subcontractors and direct hire Pre/PWHT program
Qualification
Required
Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience
Construction experience assigned to a construction site
Experience managing technical services subcontracts
Experience on an LNG construction site especially along the U.S. Gulf Coast
Preferred
Heavy industrial direct hire construction experience commensurate with the type of work to be undertaken
Advanced knowledge and/or certifications in SMAW / GTAW / GMAW / FCAW
Advanced knowledge of Piping Design Drawings/Specifications and TEAMWorks/WITS
Intermediate understanding of Preheat/Post weld heat treatment of equipment and consumables
Knowledge of engineering and construction methods and processes customarily acquired over time through specialized instruction or practical experience
Displays effective communications skills crucial to motivating team members and presenting plans in a clear and concise manner
Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheets, and database applications
Excellent problem-solving ability
