Responsibilities

Define and develop AI-driven consulting services that complement Barr’s core engineering and environmental offerings
Identify areas where AI/ML can solve client challenges and create structured service packages around these solutions
Proactively identify client needs and market opportunities for AI-enhanced consulting
Work with project teams and principals to qualify opportunities where Barr can introduce AI solutions
Craft value propositions and proposal content that articulate the business benefits of our AI offerings in clear, client-focused terms
Develop marketing materials, case studies, and thought leadership pieces that position Barr as an innovative, tech-savvy partner in our industry
Participate in industry events or client workshops to showcase Barr’s capabilities
Engage with clients to understand their strategic objectives, pain points, and data and technology environment
Design high-level solution approaches that effectively apply AI to meet client-specific needs, scoping out how our services will be delivered
Leverage Barr’s existing technical talent in AI, data science, and software development
Collaborate with our data scientists, engineers, and IT specialists to implement the technical aspects of AI solutions
Translate client requirements into clear tasks for the technical team and best ensure that the team’s capabilities are effectively packaged to meet client needs
Monitor the pipeline of opportunities, proposal hit rates, project profitability, and overall ROI of this practice area
Use these metrics to refine strategy, for example, adjusting service offerings, targeting new market segments, or shifting pricing models to improve margins
Collaborate with Barr’s leadership to identify resource needs as the practice expands

Required

10+ years of experience in consulting or professional services, with a significant portion in roles involving business development, service line leadership, or practice management
Proven track record of expanding existing services and/or developing new services or markets and driving revenue growth
Demonstrated ability to think strategically about services and markets
Skilled at identifying emerging client needs and turning them into business opportunities
Experience crafting go-to-market strategies or business plans for new initiatives, including defining offerings, pricing, and delivery approach
Solid understanding of consulting economics and the ability to help ensure the profitability of projects and services
Entrepreneurial mindset with a focus on results and value creation
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
Comfortable engaging with client executives and decision-makers
Strong presentation and negotiation skills, able to lead proposal efforts and differentiate Barr's offerings from competitors
A record of building trusted client relationships and delivering client satisfaction, especially when introducing new capabilities or ways of working
Effective at leading cross-functional efforts without formal authority
Able to influence and motivate teams to rally around new ideas
Experience coordinating diverse teams (technical experts, consultants, business developers) to deliver a unified service
Strong familiarity with modern AI and data analytics concepts and their business applications
Possession of a current, valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship by Barr, now or in the future

Preferred

Graduate degree, such as an MBA or a master's degree in a relevant technical field, or both
Experience in the environmental, engineering, or industrial sectors that Barr serves (e.g., water resources, energy, manufacturing, mining)
Previous success in launching or growing a consulting practice or service line
Recognized involvement in industry forums or professional networks related to technology and consulting
Demonstrated ability to drive change in an organization
