Data Movement Engineer (Talend) - Contractor
Nesco Resource is partnering with a mission-driven organization undergoing a major data modernization journey. They are seeking a Data Movement Engineer to design, build, and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines that support analytics and business decision-making.

Responsibilities
Design, develop, test, and maintain ETL/ELT workflows and data pipelines
Translate business and technical requirements into scalable data movement solutions
Build and optimize workflows using Talend, Informatica (IICS/PowerCenter), and BODI
Support modernization efforts, including migration and cloud-based integrations
Develop and tune complex SQL queries across multiple platforms
Perform data quality analysis, validation, reconciliation, and remediation
Lead root cause analysis and resolution of data-related production issues
Monitor jobs, improve performance and reliability, and proactively prevent failures
Partner with data architects, analysts, BI developers, and application teams
Contribute to architecture decisions and ETL best practices
Conduct design and code reviews; mentor junior developers
Create and maintain technical documentation, mappings, and runbooks
Qualification
Required
5+ years of experience in ETL development, data integration, or data warehousing
Expert-level Talend experience (Talend Open Studio, Talend Management Console)
Strong background with Informatica (IICS/PowerCenter) and BODI
Advanced SQL skills across platforms such as Snowflake, SQL Server, and/or DB2
Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts, dimensional modeling, and ETL best practices
Experience supporting production data environments and troubleshooting pipelines
Familiarity with scheduling tools (Airflow, Autosys, ESP) and version control (Git)
Experience working with ticketing systems such as ServiceNow
Exposure to cloud data platforms and modern data architectures
Strong analytical thinking, ownership mentality, and communication skills
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience)
Preferred
Experience supporting data platform modernization or cloud migrations
Background optimizing large-scale or high-volume ETL environments
Comfort leading initiatives, mentoring others, and influencing technical direction
