Delta System & Software, Inc. is seeking a Mainframe Assembler to design, code, and test application programs using the IBM Assembler language. The role involves debugging, troubleshooting, and providing technical support for mainframe systems while ensuring compliance with coding standards and technical design.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and test application programs using IBM High-Level Assembler (HLASM) on z/OS

Follow Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) processes including analysis, design, development, testing, and maintenance

Debug and troubleshoot assembler programs using tools such as IPCS, system dumps, and abend analysis

Perform performance tuning and optimization of assembler applications to ensure system efficiency and reliability

Create and maintain technical documentation including program design specifications and operational guidelines

Provide production and post-production support for mainframe applications

Ensure compliance with coding standards, security guidelines, and technical design specifications

Work closely with system architects, business analysts, and application teams to translate requirements into low-level machine code

Use ISPF/PDF for development activities and JCL for batch job execution

Integrate assembler programs with COBOL, PL/I, and C applications as required

Utilize mainframe utilities and tools such as SMP/E, IDCAMS, and DFSORT

Maintain version control and change management using tools like Endevor or Changeman

Stay current with advancements in mainframe technologies and assembler programming techniques

Required
