Responsibilities
Determine costs for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor services for various construction projects
Compile detailed cost proposals and bids for clients, ensuring scope of work is clearly defined
Analyze blueprints, drawings, and specifications to understand project requirements
Obtain quotes, negotiate with suppliers, and validate subcontractor bids
Identify potential cost overruns and incorporate risk factors into estimates
Find ways to lower project costs without compromising quality (value engineering)
Maintain historical cost data and keep detailed records of estimates and actual costs
Developing project plans, budgets, timelines, and cost estimates; securing permits
Liaising with architects, engineers, subcontractors, suppliers, and clients to align goals
Allocating labor, ordering materials, managing equipment, and overseeing procurement
Directing on-site activities, tracking progress, managing schedules, and ensuring quality control
Enforcing safety regulations, ensuring adherence to codes, and managing change orders
