Compunnel Inc. is seeking a Lab Technician for a research lab in Johnston, Iowa. This role involves assisting technical personnel in general laboratory operations and performing various tasks to support scientific research.

Responsibilities

Culture and process microbial strains

Extract total protein from bacteria and plant samples

Provide support in sample prep for whole genome sequencing

Perform PCR, molecular cloning and protein expression

Maintain inventory of basic lab supplies and equipment

Maintain detailed biological sample inventory in the lab

Migrate inventory records into databases

In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned

Qualification

Required

Bachelor's degree in Microbiology or other related science

Previous laboratory experience is preferred

Proficient knowledge of and experience in aseptic techniques

Very good organization skills

Experience with Microsoft Excel and Word

Preferred

Experience to work with BSL-2 microorganisms

Experience with molecular biology techniques

Experience in genomic DNA extraction from biological samples
