Governmental Auditor

They are seeking an entry-level Governmental Auditor to assist with various phases of audit engagements, support audits for clients, and help evaluate internal controls while gaining valuable experience in the audit process.

Responsibilities

Assist with various phases of audit engagements, working closely with senior team members to manage staff requirements, job planning, scheduling, and logistics
Support audits for clients, assisting with planning, executing, and completing engagements under the guidance of senior staff
Help evaluate the internal controls used by clients and assist with preparing audit programs and time budgets for review by the manager or partner
Perform assigned tasks and audits based on your knowledge and skills, while learning and gaining experience in the audit process
Follow the progress of the engagement and address accounting and auditing issues as they arise, with guidance from more senior staff
Communicate proactively with key client management to gather information and help resolve audit-related questions
Learn and support the development of audit documentation and ensure assignments are completed within the allocated time
Review workpapers for accuracy and completeness, and assist in ensuring that audits are performed in line with generally accepted auditing standards
Support the review of financial statements for appropriate presentation and disclosures, learning from feedback provided by senior auditors
Collaborate with the team and ask questions to better understand any significant audit findings
Represent the firm professionally when interacting with clients and team members
Maintain good relationships with client management and staff to contribute to successful audit engagements

Required

Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
0-2 years of experience in external audits (public accounting experience is a plus but not required)
Ability to handle multiple tasks and work on different audit engagements simultaneously
Strong research skills to review technical accounting matters before seeking guidance from senior team members
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and basic audit preparation software
Willingness to work additional hours if needed and travel to client locations

Preferred

CPA license (or working towards it) is a plus
Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (U.S. GAAP), United States Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (U.S. GAAS), and basic accounting and financial reporting standards is a plus but not required
High school or equivalent
Ability to Commute: Macon, GA 31201
Willingness to travel: 25%
