This role involves technical work in geographical information systems (GIS), civil engineering, and the maintenance of city projects, including the creation and management of GIS maps and participation in engineering studies and project reviews.

Responsibilities
Creates and maintains GIS maps, layers and databases, which may include: constructing, editing, and inputting geographic data and associated attribute information into City base map layers; designing and generating map viewing and printing templates, including exporting maps into various formats and printing maps utilizing plotters; operating global positioning system (GPS) equipment to locate real world features for addition to the GIS database
Participates in engineering studies, investigations, and surveys relating to construction projects
Processes county, state, EPA and CORPS permitting paperwork for construction projects
Reviews work orders and helps ensure projects are completed as specified, within established timeframes, and in accordance with approved project plans
Maintains and manipulates project and/or departmental databases as needed to track projects, inventory, and other resources or components of assigned projects
Utilizes GIS systems as needed to create, edit, and maintain features and geometric networks
Interpret legal descriptions/instruments, survey bearings, and technical plans/drawings to determine boundaries, assets, and facilities for georeferencing
Performs other related duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in Geographic Information Science or related field, or a two-year technical certificate and; and two (2) years' pertinent experience; or a combination of education, training, and/or experience equal to or higher than the requirements listed above as determined by Human Resources
Possession of an appropriate driver license for equipment operated and any license, training or certification required by law or regulation to complete assigned tasks
Preferred
Certificate in Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
