The ideal candidate will work within Ford’s CAE platform, developing and customizing engineering simulation tools and supporting engineering teams with software solutions.

Responsibilities
Work as an end-user developer within Ford’s home‑grown CAE platform, Vendure
You will use the Vendure environment for simulation and analysis tasks
You will not be building the Vendure application itself
Develop C and C++ code to:
Customize CAE workflows
Extend or enhance existing CAE functionality
Automate simulation tasks or integrate new engineering capabilities
Support engineering teams by writing and optimizing scripts, utilities, and extensions within the CAE ecosystem
Perform and support Finite Element Analysis (FEA), computational mechanics, and related simulation workflows
Run, troubleshoot, and optimize Nastran/Naström (or equivalent solver) jobs
Work within Linux-based environments for simulation execution, development, and automation
Collaborate with mechanical engineers, analysts, and CAE domain experts to translate engineering needs into software solutions
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
3+ years of hands-on software development experience with C and C++ specifically in the CAE or mechanical engineering simulation domain
Experience in one or more CAE technologies such as: Finite Element Analysis (FEA), Multiphysics simulation, Structural analysis
Working knowledge of solvers such as Nastran, Abaqus, OptiStruct, or similar tools
Strong proficiency with Linux for application development, job execution, and scripting
Ability to troubleshoot simulation workflows, customize CAE tools, and build software in support of engineering analysis
Preferred
Experience customizing internal CAE platforms or tools
Familiarity with automating engineering workflows and data handling
Understanding of computational mechanics, structural analysis, or vibration/durability engineering
