Responsibilities
Design Development: Engineer detailed drawings, technical specifications, and comprehensive bills of materials (BOM) for both overhead and underground distribution systems
Technical Analysis: Perform critical engineering calculations, including pole structural analysis (PLS-CADD or similar), conductor sizing, voltage drop, and transformer loading
Compliance & Quality: Guarantee that all designs meet or exceed client specifications, industry best practices, and National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) mandates
Field Integration: Translate site visit data and field observations into precise design schematics, verifying real-world conditions against project requirements
Project Lifecycle Management: Manage multiple projects simultaneously from inception to 'as-built' completion, providing vital technical support during the construction phase
Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with Project Managers and external agencies to secure necessary permits and ensure project timelines are met
Qualification
Required
Minimum of an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology, Drafting, or a closely related technical field
A minimum of 3+ years of direct experience in electric utility distribution design
High proficiency in CAD (AutoCAD/MicroStation) and GIS software
Mastery of electric distribution infrastructure and modern construction methodologies
Expert-level familiarity with NESC and industry-standard safety regulations
Strong analytical mindset with a high degree of accuracy in technical calculations
Excellent communication skills, capable of translating technical concepts for various stakeholders
Proven ability to work independently while contributing to a high-performing team
