Responsibilities
Provide Long Term Planning
Provide infrastructure management and oversee UAM projects, engineering work, and programs that interface with other departments
Direct the operation and maintenance of UAB's three Centralized Enterprise Chilled Water plants, multiple de-centralized plants and District Steam plant
Evaluate current plans to revise to ensure reliability, sustainability and operations in the development of strategic plans to achieve enterprise goals
Coordinate and maintain documentation for the operation, monitoring, and maintenance of all major equipment and systems
Interview, select, promote and evaluate applicants, employees and supervisors for UEM department
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering is required (ABET-accredited institution, preferred)
Minimum of ten (10) years of progressively responsible engineering and utilities management experience
Executive-level leadership of large, multidisciplinary organizations
Management of teams of twenty-five (25) or more professional, technical, and skilled trade employees
Professional Engineer (PE) license is required
Driving record should meet University underwriting guidelines to drive vehicle in performance of University business
Possession of a valid driver's license issued in the United States
At least 21 years of age
At least 3 years of driving experience
Must maintain an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR)
Preferred
Certified Energy Manager (CEM) certification is desired
