Financial Analytics Consultant

They are seeking a Financial Analytics Consultant to lead analytical and financial modeling efforts for federal clients, focusing on budget formulation, execution, and operational analysis.

Responsibilities
Lead analytical and financial modeling tasks in support of federal financial management, budget formulation, and budget execution initiatives
Develop, maintain, and enhance financial models, forecasts, projections, and scenario analyses, including cost models and operational efficiency analyses
Analyze large, complex datasets to identify trends, drivers, risks, etc
Work directly with clients to understand business problems, clarify analytical requirements, and identify root causes of financial and operational issues
Translate analytical findings into clear, actionable insights, including briefing materials, written deliverables, and visualizations for both technical and non-technical audiences
Serve as a task lead for assigned analytical workstreams, managing timelines, coordinating inputs, and ensuring high-quality deliverables
Collaborate closely with technical staff (developers, data engineers, and BI specialists) to convert financial analyses and models into automated tools, dashboards, and applications
Support the development of methodologies, assumptions, and documentation to ensure analyses and models are transparent, auditable, and repeatable
Apply structured problem-solving techniques to quickly develop subject matter expertise in new financial, budgetary, or operational domains
Participate in Agile or iterative delivery approaches, contributing to planning, prioritization, and continuous improvement of analytical products
Support quality control efforts by reviewing analyses and models for accuracy, logic, and alignment with client objectives
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business, or a related field
3–4 years of relevant experience in financial analysis, consulting, budgeting, cost analysis, or a related analytical role
Demonstrated experience building financial models, forecasts, projections, or cost analyses in Excel or similar tools
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to structure ambiguous problems and develop defensible solutions
Experience working directly with clients or stakeholders to define requirements and present analytical findings
Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and take ownership of assigned tasks and deliverables
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex financial concepts clearly
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including complex formulas, scenario analysis, sensitivity analysis, and structured modeling techniques
Experience developing cost models, budget projections, forecasting models, and variance analyses
Familiarity with financial and operational data structures, including budgets, obligations, expenditures, payroll, or similar domains
Experience creating clear and effective charts, tables, and visual summaries to communicate analytical results
Ability to document assumptions, methodologies, and logic to support auditability and long-term model sustainability
Proven ability to act as a task lead, coordinating work across team members and driving deliverables to completion
Strong collaboration skills, particularly working with technical teams to translate analytical requirements into system or application features
Self-motivated, accountable, and proactive in identifying issues, risks, and opportunities for improvement
Ability to rapidly become proficient in new financial or operational subject areas
Due to federal contract requirements, applicants must be U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents
Preferred
Exposure to business intelligence or data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau)
Comfort working with imperfect or incomplete data and developing reasonable assumptions to support decision-making
