Responsibilities
Performing complex independent assignments from the General Counsel and staff attorneys, including researching, analyzing, and drafting legal documents in complex cases at all stages of the Department’s legal matters
Analyze and respond to Open Records Requests under the supervision of the General Counsel
Perform clerical tasks related to the Department’s legal work, including drafting correspondence, mailing, filing, and organizing; and
Keeping up to date on changes in departmental regulations as well as state and federal law
Qualification
Required
Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree in paralegal science or a bachelor's degree with a minor in paralegal studies OR two-year program in paralegal studies OR post-baccalaureate certificate in paralegal studies
Four years of experience as a paralegal or legal secretary
A Juris Doctorate or a law degree from a college of law will substitute for the education and experience requirement
Experience as a paralegal or legal secretary will substitute for the bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis
Preferred
Has a positive attitude and is a self-starter
Is professional, competent, organized, and polite
Meets necessary educational requirements or experience substitute
Has work-related experience in alcoholic beverage law, administrative law and, or, litigation
