In Vivo Research Associate, CGT Preclinical
Pharmaron San Diego is seeking a motivated In Vivo Research Associate to join their growing Cell and Gene Therapy Preclinical team. This role involves hands-on involvement in cutting-edge in vivo CGT studies, supporting the development of next-generation therapies.
Responsibilities
Administer test articles via approved routes, including oral gavage and parenteral methods (SQ, IM, IP, ID, IV, dermal) in both rodent and large animal models
Perform BAL fluid collection, intubation, catheter placements, biopsies, and skin excisions
Conduct surgical procedures including incisions and wound creation
Perform necropsies and tissue collection
Handle, restrain, and care for laboratory animals across multiple species
Monitor animals under anesthesia and during post-operative recovery
Observe animals for general health, wellbeing, and clinical signs
Execute study activities in compliance with GLPs, study protocols, SOPs, and company policies
Prepare study materials including room setup and collection tube labeling
Review documentation to ensure accuracy, quality, and regulatory compliance
Interface with Study Directors, Principal Investigators, QA/QC, and cross-functional teams
Maintain accurate records in internal systems including eQCM, Provantis, and Vivarium+
Support internal research initiatives and continuous process improvement efforts
Perform aseptic techniques and other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
In Vivo Research Associate I: Associate degree in veterinary technology with 1-2 years of experience, or BS with 1 year of experience
In Vivo Research Associate II: Associate degree in veterinary technology with 3 years relevant experience, or BS with 2 years of experience
In Vivo Research Associate III: Associate degree in veterinary technology with 4 years relevant experience, or BS with 3 years of experience
A combination of education and relevant hands-on experience will be considered
Preferred
Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) certification is highly desired, particularly for candidates with anesthesia, surgical support, or cell and gene therapy experience
Prior experience in cell and gene therapy, in vivo models, or preclinical research
Working knowledge of animal handling, dosing techniques, clinical observations, and specimen collection
Strong attention to detail, documentation accuracy, and ability to follow strict regulatory procedures
Excellent communication skills and the ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment
Strong work ethic, self-motivation, and ability to adapt to a dynamic team environment
