Senior Dam Engineer – Hydropower & Water Infrastructure
EWI Recruitment is partnering with a well-established engineering consultancy focused on dams, hydropower, and water infrastructure projects across the United States. They are seeking a Senior Dam Engineer to lead technical delivery and project management for complex dam and hydropower assets, while also engaging with clients and mentoring junior engineers.
Responsibilities
Leading technical delivery on dam and hydropower engineering projects
Providing dam safety, inspection, and rehabilitation expertise
Managing large, complex, multi-disciplinary project teams
Supporting clients through feasibility, design, regulatory, and construction phases
Coordinating with hydrology, hydraulics, geotechnical, mechanical, and electrical disciplines
Participating in business development and client relationship management
Mentoring and developing junior and mid-level engineers
Supporting field activities, site inspections, and construction-phase services
Qualification
Required
Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the United States
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (Structural, Geotechnical, or Water Resources focus preferred)
15+ years' experience in dam engineering and/or hydropower infrastructure
Strong knowledge of U.S. dam safety regulations, codes, and standards
Demonstrated experience with concrete and embankment dams
Demonstrated experience with spillways, gates, outlet works, penstocks, and powerhouse structures
Demonstrated experience with structural and geotechnical aspects of dams
Demonstrated experience with design and assessment of concrete and steel structures in and around water
Demonstrated experience with field-based work during inspections, investigations, and construction
Proven experience managing complex, multi-disciplinary dam projects
Ability to provide practical engineering solutions to dam safety and infrastructure challenges
Comfortable working directly with senior clients, regulators, and contractors
Strong relationship-building capability with public and private sector clients
Clear, confident written and verbal communication skills
Effective collaborator within multidisciplinary engineering teams
Demonstrated commitment to mentoring and developing engineering talent
Willingness to provide technical leadership and guidance across teams
Permanent authorization to work in the United States
Willingness to travel as required for site work and client engagement
Valid driver's license
