Intern Support Technician - RTI Division

Texas Department of Transportation is seeking an Intern Support Technician for their RTI Division. The role involves performing entry-level administrative support work and assisting a team of Research Project Managers in monitoring and coordinating statewide research portfolios.

Government Administration

Responsibilities

Assists in maintaining confidential information and records
Assists in performing inventory of materials, supplies, and equipment
Maintains files, records, and logs
Makes copies and distributes as instructed
Opens, sorts, and distributes mail
Performs preliminary research on assignments and gathers pertinent data
Performs routine word processing duties and conducts quality checks of documents created
Runs errands as required
Performs other job responsibilities as assigned

Required

Must be a student in high school or other educational institution or accepted into a college, university or educational institution
Must be at least 16 years of age, a student currently enrolled in high school or any institution of higher education to include a trade/vocational school
Employees at least 18 years of age with valid driver's license may be assigned driving duties and may use power tools
Some skill in research and analysis methodologies
Some skill in maintaining effective working relationships with others
Some skill in collecting, sorting and compiling data
Some skill in administrative support practices and procedures to include writing, editing and report writing techniques, recording meeting notes, record keeping and records management
Some skill in preparing correspondence/documents using correct spelling, grammar and punctuation; proofreading and reviewing documents for clarity and consistency
Some skill in using standard office equipment
Some skill in using computers, applicable programs, applications, and systems
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
Ability to follow applicable safety standards, practices and procedures
Protects sensitive and confidential information
Subject to environmental conditions; protection from weather but not temperature changes
Close Visual Acuity-work includes data/figures; view a computer screen; extensive reading
