Test Technician

Responsibilities
Log project work activities in the work order system
Drives Hilo and helps with warehouse organization
Must be physically present in work area during specified working hours, unless instructed otherwise by supervisor
Ability to learn, use and create new tools as needed
Works effectively with others as a member of a team to solve problems
Successfully prioritizes own workload based on projects assigned, propose test schedules according to priorities and urgencies, works under minimum supervision
Shows initiative by making improvements in own work area
Key contributor on engineering/warranty investigations, using experience and knowledge to perform ON/OFF and root cause analysis
Uses MS Office, Sharepoint, Bauer, Slipspace programs and files (templates) to report and document his work. Can create basic engineering level files and reports to share findings and progression of issues
Works with vehicle software like Vector Canape to communicate with the transmissions reporting electrical and hydraulic performance
Perform development and validation tests according to specific test requests for advanced automatic transmissions and mechatronic subsystems
Prepare test equipment and instrument hardware for testing, supporting installation of new test equipment and test set ups
Rigs transmission in and out the test benches reliably
Responsible to create analysis reports towards supporting root cause analysis based on results from test data
Create and release work instructions in the system under engineering approval and supervision
Trains others and creates custom training plans
Can operate reliably and efficiently U43 and Spin stand, performing basic and custom automated tests, following and understanding the safety protocols to operate test benches
Analyze test data from Bauer and provide initial basic assessment of transmission condition, with a good understanding and correlation between failure modes and hardware related with the failure
Complete understanding of all test datapoints evaluated, with ability to identify them clearly in test results and identify issues with test and propose datapoints improvements
Responsible to follow key transmissions until they are repaired, tested, approved and shipped
Leads and organizes a team of Tech’s on daily activities following main goal and objective defined by supervisor. Leads meetings with peers and assigns work to them
Work in a lab environment performing efficiently transmission teardowns, inspections, repairs and work orders per instructions and specifications, consistently delivering good results. Performs level 3 repairs (full transmission teardowns and assemblies)
Perform component and subsystem measurements using tools like calipers, micrometers, high gages, dial indicators, etc
Support engineers with engineering investigation due to implementation of new concepts or because of field failures
Assist with delivery of transmissions to the customer (driver)
Work on the assembly line or in Teardown/Wet Room as needed
Maintain the 5-S standards in the lab
Other duties assigned by supervisor
Qualification
Required
Ability to routinely lift and maneuver in excess of 100 lbs with the support of lifts and hoists
Experience using MS Excel. MS Word, MS Outlook, Sharepoint, MS Access, Bauer, Slipspace
Has strong Mathematical skills and is able to understand all test results
Analytical and abstract ability to understand how transmission work and therefore find issues when things are not as expected
Ability to analyze and review test result and provide related insight
Ability to obtain a hi-lo license
Proficient with the usage of hand tools
Understands what is a REDEX ON/OFF activity
Excellent communication skills
Ability to train others
Basic understanding of test cells configuration and solution for common issues
ASE Certification or 2 year technical degree in mechanical, electrical or automotive required
Minimum 2 years of experience in TREMEC as Test technician I
Ability to effectively lead a team
Experience and knowledge of drivetrain systems and related mechanical and electrical components
Basic hydraulic and electronic knowledge desired
Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, SharePoint, Outlook)
Possesses good problem solving skills
Good working knowledge of measuring devices
Preferred
Experience with NI LabView preferred
