Senior Advisor and Speechwriter

The Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia is one of the 12 regional Reserve Banks that, together with the Board of Governors in Washington, D.C., make up the Federal Reserve System. The Senior Advisor and Speechwriter is responsible for crafting impactful speeches and communications for the President & CEO, focusing on monetary policy and transforming complex economic concepts into compelling narratives.

Responsibilities

Develop high-impact communications strategy, and implement that strategy through creation of speeches, op-eds, and other communications covering monetary policy, payments systems, financial markets, regional economic conditions, community development initiatives, and other business focused topics
Collaborate closely with the Research Department and subject matter experts to translate technical analyses into accessible content for diverse stakeholders
Collaborate closely with the External Affairs Department to ensure messaging alignment across the enterprise
Maintain subject matter expertise across the Federal Reserve's functional areas, with particular emphasis on economic policy. Advises the president on key economic topics that can inform the policy perspective
Guide the process to transform complex data into clear and accessible charts, graphs, and infographics that effectively communicate key insights for speeches and presentations
Prepare comprehensive briefing materials for FOMC meetings, congressional testimonies, industry conferences, and community engagements often in collaboration with colleagues across the enterprise
Identify speaking opportunities that position the President & CEO to share their policy perspectives with a range of audiences and advance the Bank's key objectives in economic policy, financial innovation, and community development
Support communications for other members of the Bank’s senior management team, the Board of Directors and advisory councils on matters relevant to the Federal Reserve's mission

Required

Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred in Economics, Finance, Communications, or related field
Strong understanding of the Federal Reserve System, economic policy, financial markets, and regional economic development
Exceptional ability to synthesize complex research into clear, compelling narratives across various subject areas and a variety of audiences
Strong commitment to collaboration and working across teams to accomplish shared goals
Minimum of ten years of experience writing communications in economics, finance, or public policy
Excellent project management skills with ability to meet tight deadlines
Capacity to travel with the President to key engagements (6-12 trips annually)

Preferred

Advanced degree preferred in Economics, Finance, Communications, or related field
