Responsibilities
Design and train large-scale ML models for quantitative forecasting, starting with trading
Explore new architectures, objectives, and inductive biases beyond standard domain-specific approaches
Run end-to-end research loops, define hypotheses, design experiments, analyze results, iterate fast
Build the training, evaluation, and deployment toolchain that supports serious experimentation
Translate vague, open-ended questions into concrete modeling directions and measurable outcomes
Stress-test models against real policies and live market dynamics
Work closely with founders on research strategy and production decisions
Help shape Zoa’s long-term roadmap for applying forecasting models beyond trading
Contribute to a culture of clean experiments, careful reasoning, and honest error bars
Qualification
Required
4+ years of hands-on ML experience or equivalent research background
Real experience training models, not just wrapping APIs
Strong Python engineering with production-quality code, tests, and structure
Deep familiarity with PyTorch or similar frameworks, including custom training loops
Experience owning ML systems end to end, from data to deployment
Comfort operating in ambiguity with high ownership
Clear communicator who can explain trade-offs without hand-waving
High bar, low ego, startup-ready mindset
Preferred
Background in quantitative finance, forecasting, or optimization
Experience with large-scale experimentation or multi-agent systems
Cloud ML infrastructure exposure
