Responsibilities

Act as the liaison with the CENG project team and external groups to coordinate multi-discipline projects, including reviewing engineering estimates, schedules, field drawings, and specifications for completeness and accuracy
Monitor schedules, progress, and cost control of projects, and work directly with the Central Operations Project Manager as the single point of contact for Central Engineering on assigned projects
Ensure engineering adherence to specifications, drawings, company and regulatory requirements and any special conditions
Attend field visits, field walks, and pre-award meetings
Track engineering deliverables and ensure all projects are entered into databases, including scopes of work, estimates, schedules, engineering calculations, and procurement information; update the status of project deliverables in the Central Engineering project status database(s)
Coordinate engineering package and schedule review meetings
Support Con Edison needs during system emergencies and equipment outages
Provide technical insight and review of equipment and construction specifications, vendor bid documents, and EH&S checklists for projects
Meet with vendors and customers to optimize proposed designs and establish project schedules
Coordinate with the Lead Engineer to confirm that in-house and out-of-house design efforts, licensing, environmental, permitting, safety, and compliance requirements are incorporated into the project
Troubleshoot problems as they arise on projects, finding efficient and effective solutions
Perform other assignments as directed

Required

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and five years of engineering work experience in utility operations, construction, substations, steam and power generation operations
Master's Degree in Engineering and three years of engineering and/or design experience in utility operations, construction, substations, steam and power generation operations
Computer proficiency to include Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint), required
Strong leadership skills with the ability to oversee large projects, required
Proficient in written and oral communication, required
Experience writing, reviewing, editing request for proposals (RFP) for engineering and/or design services, required
Driver's License Required
Ability to respond to system emergencies
Able to work in all weather conditions, i.e. excessive heat and/or cold
Ability to climb ladders and stairs
Ability to work on elevated platforms, scaffolds, catwalks, roofs, and/or other equipment
Ability to work in inclement weather and adverse conditions (i.e., excessive heat, cold, noise, confined spaces)
Stand, walk, and climb ladders and stairs for the duration of the workday
Wear necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), i.e. fire-retardant clothing and safety harnesses

Preferred

Master's Degree in Engineering and three years of engineering and/or design experience in utility operations, construction, substations, steam and power generation operations
Supervisory experience of management and union employees, preferred
Knowledge of applicable project management specifications, policies, standards, and best practices, preferred
Construction or utility operations experience in substations, steam and/or power generation operations, preferred
Project Management Professional (PMP) Preferred
