Responsibilities
Supervise assigned tellers; contribute to performance evaluations
Collaborate with Branch Manager to create staffing schedules and lead staff meetings as needed
Delegate tasks to optimize branch efficiency and maintain a professional work environment
Ensure daily balancing of teller cash drawers and accurate preparation of balance sheets
Investigate discrepancies and report immediately to the Branch Manager
Reconcile teller totals with the General Ledger and follow procedures when out of balance
Oversee ATM balancing and cassette preparation under dual control
Secure all negotiable items and confidential records daily
Open night depository under dual control
Conduct unannounced cash audits and report exceptions
Ensure robbery packets are accessible and current
Transition to offline procedures during emergencies or power outages
Balance vault daily (unless under dual control)
Buy/sell cash with tellers and monitor cash levels
Order and ship currency as needed
Maintain monthly cash balances and audit records
Verify deposits and endorsements
Make decisions aligned with bank policies and goals
Address employee concerns and disciplinary issues in coordination with the Branch Manager
Collaborate with department heads and senior management
Ensure seamless branch operations
Verify identification and account balances before cashing checks
Process transactions and issue receipts
Balance cash and checks at shift end
Prepare official checks and provide overrides
Explain bank products and fees to customers
Make monthly product/service referrals
Report suspicious activity and follow robbery procedures
Substitute during breaks and assist with safe deposit box access and ATM guidance
Monitor employee goal progress
Maintain own cash drawer and fulfill teller responsibilities
Comply with BSA/AML and all bank policies
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
High school diploma or equivalent required
2 years of Teller or equivalent role experience required, or 1 year of Relationship Banker experience with First Guaranty Bank required
1 year of cash handling experience required
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work in a team-oriented environment
Proficiency in basic computer applications and banking systems
Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
