Responsibilities
Providing high-level administrative and operational support to the Department Chair, Associate Chair, and faculty
Coordinating and managing a wide range of academic and administrative tasks, including faculty support, academic scheduling, records management, and event coordination
Supporting the department’s science laboratories and sponsored research initiatives by facilitating procurement, scheduling, and compliance activities
Serving as the first point of contact for students, visitors, and external stakeholders
Triaging inquiries, directing students to appropriate advisors or faculty, and fostering a welcoming and professional environment within the department office
Qualification
Required
High school (or GED) level ability in grammar, spelling, basic composition, and math
Strong knowledge of general office procedures, recordkeeping, and administrative workflow
Understanding of budget management practices, including expense tracking, and reconciliation
Familiarity with purchasing procedures, vendor communication, and supply management
Knowledge of university operations and student support services
