Responsibilities
Act as a strategic advisor to the CEO and executive team on financial planning, forecasting, and long-term growth initiatives
Develop and execute financial strategies that support operational efficiency, scalability, and profitability
Provide regular financial insights and recommendations to leadership based on job cost analysis, margin trends, and cash flow
Oversee all accounting functions, including general ledger, month-end and year-end close, and financial statement preparation
Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with GAAP
Manage WIP reporting, percentage-of-completion accounting, revenue recognition, and job cost reporting
Oversee annual audits, tax compliance, and coordination with external auditors and tax advisors
Partner with operations and project management to ensure accurate project budgeting, forecasting, and cost controls
Monitor project margins, change orders, and cost-to-complete estimates
Implement and enhance systems and processes to improve job cost visibility and reporting
Lead cash flow forecasting and working capital management, including bonding, banking relationships, and credit facilities
Oversee AR/AP processes, lien waivers, and collections to support healthy cash flow
Manage insurance programs, bonding capacity, and risk mitigation strategies
Evaluate and improve financial systems, controls, and reporting tools (e.g., ERP, project accounting systems)
Build, mentor, and lead the accounting and finance team
Drive process improvements to support scalability and operational excellence
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
10+ years of progressive finance and accounting leadership experience, preferably within construction or a related project-based industry
Strong knowledge of construction accounting, WIP schedules, job costing, and revenue recognition
Experience working closely with operations and project teams
Proven ability to lead teams, implement systems, and improve processes
Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to translate financial data into actionable insights
